WRC Rally Championship
During March, there are 24 stages on dirt roads surrounding the cities of León, Guanajuato, and Silao. Ceremonial Start at the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, a route that runs through cobblestone streets and emblematic tunnels of the city of Guanajuato. Guanajuatenses and visitors experience the international motorsport that takes place every year in the state of Guanajuato, a destination considered the “Rallying Capital of North America”.
International Cervantino Festival (FIC)
The International Cervantino Festival, “The Feast of the Spirit”, is where the art, traditions, and culture of Guanajuato, the country, and the whole world come together. This great event has been held for 50 years in October, traditionally in each edition a country and a state of the republic are invited to present their cultural proposal at the festival. It is the most important cultural event of its kind in Mexico and Latin America, with activities in emblematic scenarios of the state capital.
International Balloon Festival (FIG)
In November, one of the three most important aerostation events in the world takes place, the International Balloon Festival. With more than 200 balloons from 25 countries, flying in the sky of León. In 22 years of history, the FIG reunited more than 2,000 balloons! And more than 4 million visitors from all over the country and abroad. Making it the main attraction of the Bajio region.
Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF)
The International Film Festival is in July. It features the participation of Mexican and international film productions in various municipalities of the state. It has been held for 25 editions, where more than 200 short films, documentaries, and feature films are shown in special screenings and competitions in open-air venues or emblematic places in the state.
José Alfredo Jimenez International Festival
In November this festival happens in commemoration of the singer-songwriter, the festival gathers fans of “El Rey” in the Historic Center, at the Guanajuato Wine Museum, Querétaro and Michoacán streets, at the José Alfredo Jiménez Mausoleum and many other representative sites in Dolores Hidalgo. The memory of the most renowned Mexican composer takes over Dolores Hidalgo with concerts, serenades, bohemias, a tour of cantinas, as well as gastronomic and cultural activities.
